Carroll & Partners received instruction to undertake a feasibility report on a scheme for redeveloping an old garage site Broad Street, Uffington opposite St Mary's Primary School.
Following d iscussions with the Vale of the White Horse’s Planning Officers a need was identified for a mix of housetypes on this site including a strong need for one-bedroom properties. In this respect the make up of the development consists:
- 4 one bedroom dwellings
- 2 two bedroom houses
- 2 three bedroom houses
- 1 four bedroom house
- 2 five bedroom houses
Materials have been selected to allow the building to relate to its surroundings. The palette of materials kept to brick for the properties facing Broad Street. All roofs will be slate, windows timber framed with timber doors. Some of the properties will be built of natural stone with brick arches and surrounds to windows; a common detail found in the village.
We feel that the design will connect with the site very well, enhance the surrounding area and contribute to the setting.
